NYC Graffiti Canvas

The NYC Graffiti Canvas is part of 'NY Street Art Project,' a collection by photographer Ayhan Kimsesizcan, who moved to New York from Istanbul and established Studio Manhattan in 2002. Over the course of three years, the photographer visited hundreds of streets, subway stations, and urban neighborhoods in and around New York City to archive work that usually only lasts for a couple of days. The project features work influenced by pop culture, politics, an economy in crisis, clever irony, humor, and the clear defiance of authority.

Ever since the golden age of graffiti of the 1980's every surface in New York has provided a canvas for artists. These artists are often creating humorous or politically charged images for the world to see in a free and open forum. Most of the street artwork vanishes within a couple of days, but this 12” x 16” canvas print of impermanent art allows New York street art to live forever.
