Philip Planes is proud to join the family business. The North Carolinian is a third-generation furniture designer — following his father and grandfather, furniture makers in Cuba. “I often find myself looking for symmetry in nature and patterns in numbers,” he says, applying engineering skills to a range of modular shapes in rich woods.
